Ohio Amish Country

We set out this morning for a short drive to the heart of Amish Country in Ohio. We spent the morning and early afternoon roaming around looking for interesting things to see. Amish Country has become very touristy and we wanted to find something a little more real. We finally did find a town that was not on the “list” of places to visit. It turned out to be the best location.

That said, this area of Ohio was gorgeous. In fact, Jim ranks it among some of the most beautiful areas in the U.S, that we’ve visited.

After some stops to look at antiques and pseudo-Amish wares, we finally made it to a real Amish furniture store. We ended up buying two things we could fit in the car.

Here are some pics from today:

We spent a lot of the day in the Amish area. But alas, we needed to get to Indianapolis, 4 1/2 hours away. After the drive we arrived at Carlos’ house, who lives just outside of Indy. He had dinner for us and we had a very relaxing evening catching up.
