On to Nebraska

We got up and headed out today with the goal of getting to Scottsbluff, Nebraska. We have friends who live there, and they’re hosting us for the night.  Luckily it’s only about four hours from Colorado Springs, not a bad drive.

We like to find silly things to see along the way. Our first stop was to see two oddities in Fort Collins. On the campus of the University of Colorado, Fort Collins exists a giant Campbell’s Soup can. That was fun, but adjacent was the university’s experimental flower garden … a cool stop.

Just on the other side of town was the largest ice cream churn, it’s actually an ice cream shop … yes, we had ice cream.

After ice cream we stopped in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It was just an hour away. It was pretty quiet and a nice town. We did take a picture of the now decommissioned Peace Keeper missals on the edge of town.

After just another 90 minutes we arrived in Scottsbluff to spend the night with Kathy and Jeff. They made a great dinner for us. It was great to see them again.

Crazy as can be, I just learned a high school classmate lives here in Scottsbluff, population 15,000 … she popped over to say hi. Thanks Janelle!
