Aspen and Pikes Peak

Today we drove to and through Aspen. Lucky for us it’s street market day; we picked up some great lunch items. We have never, ever seen a higher concentration of posh people (NO exaggeration), well-groomed dogs, high-end shops, and private jets (literally, the airport was a Learjet parking lot)! Fun stop!  Gorgeous location!

From Aspen we headed east, which was a beautiful drive. We crossed the continental divide at Independence Pass.

We went on to Colorado Springs and rode the Manitou and Pikes Peak Railway to the top of Pikes Peak — 14,  115 feet. This is the highest we ever been terrestrially. We really felt the altitude.

It was cloudy at the top.
